Ali Ahmad, PhD

Ali qualified as legal practitioner having graduated from Bayero University,Kano with honours degree in law where he emerged as winner of the Chief justice of Nigeria Award for the best graduating student. He also holds a master’s degree in international law and Doctorate Degree in Environment and Natural Resources law from Harvard Law School and the George Washinton University law School, respectively. Dr Ahmad’s practice is transnational, as he has practiced law in Nigeria as well as in the United States of America, where he was called to bar in New York. He has litigated   a number of lawsuits in Nigeria and the USA but now concentrates most of his time on transnational matters relating to the environment, natural resources, investment and securities.

 

His M.B.A degree and a stint in the legal Department of a commercial bank has placed him in a good stead in his ability to reconcile legal frameworks with commercial realities in the most efficient and timely manner. Dr. Ahmad, who also lectures at University  at the university has consulted in oil issues in the USA, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and has delivered talks at international forums including the world summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.

 

Dr.Ahmad is a member of the Commission on Environment law of the IUCN (the world conservation union) American bar Association and a number of other professional, social and philanthropic organisations.
